CHIA Abel Tasman Coastal Classic
Nelson Events are thrilled to announce a partnership with CHIA as naming sponsor for their flagship iconic trail run, the Abel Tasman Coastal Classic.

CHIA, like Nelson Events, is a born and bred Nelson Company. Our health drink fits perfectly with the annual event, being a product formulated on the recipe of the Tarahumara Indians of New Mexico, the tribe known for their ability to run 160 kilometres sustained on the hydrated chia seed.
Established in 1994, the popularity of the 36km trail run from Awaroa to Marahau, continues to grow its stature both nationally and internationally and last year featured in Runners World UK’s “Bucket List” of 100 must do trail runs around the world. The other was the Kepler Challenge.
Nelson Event’s Director, Greg Dykzeul, believes the 350 runners in this year’s event, 90% of whom are from outside the region, will benefit from the sponsorship signing with CHIA. “We are excited about the partnership and the opportunities it will create for the two Nelson Companies”.
